Laurel Oak’s Two Championship Golf Courses
There are two championship golf courses at Laurel Oak, both blending well with the lakes and wetland preserves in the country club environs. It has an East Course which is a signature design of the legendary golfer, Gary Player. Completed in 1995, this course measures 4,673 yards from the white tee box and 6,875 yards from the black. The other layout, the West Course, was renovated in 2005, incorporating the design of another golf icon, Rees Jones, widely acclaimed as the “US Open Doctor.” From the white box, the course yardage is 4,647 and 6,934 from the black. Some major tournaments have paid homage to the challenge of these golf courses. Laurel Oak has played host to the qualifying tournament of the US Open, and it is still the arena for the Michelob Ultra-Lite National Tournaments.
Country club men’s golf tourneys are held three times a week and every Saturday. Women golfers grab their share of the limelight in either nine-hole or 18-hole competitions scheduled once a week. Laurel Oak’s resident pros are regularly available for individual or group practice sessions. These can be conveniently held at the country club’s putting green and chipping area, and a practice area with bunker for the short game. Clinics, group and individual golf lessons for junior golfers are also conducted by the country club’s professional staff.
