Six restaurants in all are available to the club membership, providing options from casual to fine dining. For a more laid-back ambience, club members have a choice in the poolside Barefoot’s Bar & Grille where they can enjoy live music amid stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico.
Besides its swimming pool, the resort also has a private beach complete with cabanas and umbrellas. It also maintains a fully equipped Fitness Center staffed with professional trainers who likewise presides on physical well being regimens at the Mind & Motion Studio. Additionally, the club has a twelve-room spa providing not only therapeutic services but beauty products as well.
Member privileges are as ample in the club’s Tennis Gardens with 20 Har-Tru courts, a clubhouse, a pro shop, lockers, an activity room, and a café. In-house professional training for players of all levels is available under instructors accredited by the USTPA, a tennis governing body that has cited the excellence of the club’s facilities.
Unique Barrier Island Golf Links
Similarly, the Longboat Key Club’s golf courses are as outstanding and recognized as among Florida’s best. The only golf course on the barrier islands off Sarasota, these courses consist of 45 holes covering two layouts: the newly renovated Harbourside and the challenging Islandside.
Harbourside is a 27-hole layout consisting of the Blue Heron, the Red, and the White Courses, originally designed by William Byrd. The course renovation which cost $2-million centered on the Blue Heron under Ron Garl, another famed course architect. This course measures 3,386 yards, the Red 3,323 yards, and the White 3,426 yards.
The Islandside layout tours at 6,792 yards in a play that takes the golfer along fairways bordered by the Gulf of Mexico, thus creating water hazards in all of its 18 holes. This course is noted for its fast greens because of the Tifdwarf grass of the putting surfaces. To help golfers master the two Longboat Key courses, in-house pros are available for lessons.
Choices for membership packages include Full, Tennis, and Social. A full membership provides playing privileges for golf and tennis plus access to social, fitness, and dining. A Tennis membership gives privileges to the Tennis Garden as well as to dining, social, and fitness amenities; golf is available under a set schedule and rates. A Social membership entitles access to dining, beach and poolside facilities, and the spa and the fitness center; golf and tennis privileges may be availed of too in a set of schedules and rates.
Homes Closer to City Attractions
The community of Longboat Key, situated at the southern area of the barrier island, enjoys the geographical advantage of being closer to Sarasota City than those communities at the northern end of the island. It is linked to the city via the John Ringling Causeway that is easily accessible from either US 41 or Interstate 75.
