Share the superior amenities of a country club steeped in the history of the development of the Bradenton–Sarasota area. Join Palm Aire Country Club rooted in the DeSoto Lakes Country Club Colony which was set up in 1957 to develop a 1,300-acre property in the area. Following years of masterful development, Palm Aire changed its charter into a private membership club in 1990.
The Country Club can be reached easily as it is only two miles east from U.S. 301 and west from Interstate 75. Palm Aire members have a 23,000-square-foot clubhouse that is home to superb facilities for social activities and elegant dining. Current membership rates on special offer are $2,500 for full membership, $1,250 for golf, $1,000 for tennis, and $500 for socials.
Country club members have plenty of options for the various activities they are privileged with at Palm Aire. They can rely on an Athletic Club that oversees sports-oriented activities and facilities at Palm Aire. Competitive but friendly tennis matches can be enjoyed at any of the Country Club’s eight Har-Tru courts or on the two all-weather courts. Six of these courts are illuminated for night time play. Professional instruction is available for individual or group lessons.
A physical fitness regimen guided by a certified instructor can also be pursued in Palm Aire’s air-conditioned, modern fitness center that has complete locker room facilities. Members likewise have access to a junior Olympic-sized pool. Water aerobic lessons can be arranged with an in-house, certified instructor.
Palm Aire Golf Courses, The Lakes and The Champions
There are two golf courses — Lakes and Champions — in Palm Aire Country Club, both of which have been rated by Golfweek magazine as among the best in Florida. These 18-hole layouts can accommodate all levels of play, from the novice to the pros, with its five different tee box locations for each tee. The two layouts are newly renovated. The country club also has a wide driving range featuring twenty-four grass hitting locations.
The Lakes course offers 6,685 yards of par-72 play from its longest tee. It was designed by the famous course designer Joseph L. Lee and has a 72.1 course rating and a 130 slope rating. The other course, Champions, is longer at 7,005 yards and plays at par 72. Its designer is another well-known course architect Dick Wilson. The Champions’ course rating is 73.9 and its slope rating is 120.
Many Florida old timers would remember these courses as the venue for some of the very first televised golf tournaments, like the “All Star Golf Tournament” wherein the golf icon Sam Snead won in 1959.
Palm Aire Residences
Despite Palm Aire being relatively older than the other Sarasota country club developments, residences within the country club property complex remain attractive to buyers. Like their well-maintained community, many of these homes have been extensively remodeled or renovated bringing them up to today’s residential standards.
The choices are varied for Palm Aire homes for sale. Options can include condo units, executive estates, tropical villas, and single-family homes. Price points are also wide. Prospective buyers searching at the premium level can find a listing for a four-bedroom residence with a pool at $650,000. On the opposite end, a one-bedroom condo unit at Palm Aire can have a price tag of $45,000.
